URS is seeking a Senior Engineer to provide technical leadership and support to the Mine Resistant Ambush Protection (MRAP) Joint Program Office, acting in the role of a senior safety engineer. This is an ACAT 1D program currently producing, fielding, upgrading, and sustaining life-saving vehicles for Warfighters and is recognized as the highest priority Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition program, with exceptionally high Congressional, DoD, and joint Service interest which requires motivated, competent and agile individuals to respond to a myriad of urgent and priority requests for information and action. Under general direction, candidate will perform a variety of complex technical and support services involving the assessment of vehicle design and performance issues, the analysis of alternatives, market research into potential solutions, and the initiation of Department of Defense acquisition activities to acquire design solutions. This includes preparation of performance specifications, statements of work, engineering-related acquisition documents. Candidate will be assigned to projects that have direct and indirect impacts to personnel safety. Candidate will be expected to act as and be recognized as a company/industry expert resource on safety engineering, with the ability to apply industrial safety standards and practices to the MRAP program. Additional duties may include participation in Integrated Product Teams (IPT), evaluation of Engineering Change Proposals (ECP), supervision of test activities, and preparing and analyzing data and briefs to support decisions on project execution. As part of an engineering team, the candidate will interface with engineers from other disciplines, as well as members of Acquisition, Logistics, and Test and Evaluation (T&E) teams.
